7 Weird Things About Me

Thanks for tagging me, dear husband. Here are the rules of this for when I tag you from the original sponsors of this fun:

1- Link to the person’s blog who tagged you. 2- Post these rules on your blog. 3- List seven random and/or weird facts about yourself. 4- Tag seven random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. 5- Let each person know that they have been tagged by posting on comment on their blog.

Now, Tim didn't tag 7 people, but I'll try.....

7 Weird Things About Me

1) I have been electrified by lightning by sticking a fork into a Tyson's Chicken Patty exactly when lightning hit the line at our house. My heart hurt a lot and I didn't eat chicken patties for ten years. I also never saw a doctor about it.

2) I traveled to Tijuana, Mexico and didn't see any donkey show. I did eat at Hard Rock Cafe because I was scared to eat the "street food".

3) A childhood friend of mine was killed by a serial killer when she was 23.

4) I had a childhood dream to own a horse and my parents actually let me have one!

5) My first car was a 1972 Pontiac Firebird. I used to drive it over 100 miles per hour on a lonely stretch of road. I yell at my husband for speeding now.

6) I named my first child "Annie" because I thought it is better to have a friendly name than an "exotic" name.

7) I never liked any boys named Tim until I married one.

I will now tag Tee and Elizabeth, two of my regular lovely readers! Have fun!

Blog Action Day

I'm participating and encouraging everyone to take a little stand to help our environment. Just do one thing and it will help our world be a better place. Just take those plastic rings that hold your soda cans and cut them into tiny pieces before you place them into the trash. This keeps birds and small animals from getting their heads caught and dying a horrible death...perhaps at a landfill. Better yet, reduce your trash, be sure to recycle and try to use recyclable materials.

Please consider participating in today's event. Go here for more information!

Celebrating Blog Day Today!

Blog Day 2007 Hey, Everyone!

Here at Parent Traps, we're celebrating Blog Day! If you want to celebrate too here's what you do:

BlogDay Posting Instructions According to the Founders That Be at Blog Day Central:

  1. Find 5 new Blogs that you find interesting

  2. Notify the 5 bloggers that you are recommending them as part of BlogDay 2007

  3. Write a short description of the Blogs and place a link to the recommended Blogs

  4. Post the BlogDay Post (on August 31st) and

  5. Add the BlogDay tag using this link: http://technorati.com/tag/BlogDay2007and a link to the BlogDay web site at Blog Day.

  6. Celebrate!

So, everyone, here are my new five blogs I'm viewing and celebrating today:

    1. By The Sea - A nice relaxing blog showing the day-to-day activities and interests of a dog-loving, medical transcriptionist living in Summerville, SC.

    2. Beautiful Mess - A blog written by a 26-year-old stay-at-home and work-from-home mom, who is also a military wife. She is located in "cyberspace" cause she doesn't list her home locale. She has written some pretty fun stuff.

    3. Baby Boomer Blog - As it's name says - here's one all about Baby Boomers, of which I am on the tail end of - 1963. As it says in their headline: News, reviews, gossip....and you can submit stories and features to them too!

    4. Kansas Milkmaid Blog I found this by random searching under Kansas blogs, because I do like Kansas - being that is where my ancestors come from. So I found this little gem - all about cows and milking! Check it out!

    and FINALLY....

    5. Cake and Pie - Unfortunately, it's not about desserts, but fortunately, it is interesting and all about a blogger who runs a small home studio and specializes in graphic design for print. She also help run and curate SQFT Gallery in the Arcade in downtown Nashville. Interesting designs to peruse.

Would You Be a Cool Parent?

Find out for yourself and take the cool quiz. Below is my result - and yes, it is so!

You Will Be a Cool Parent

You seem to naturally know a lot about parenting, and you know what kids need.

You can tell when it's time to let kids off the hook, and when it's time to lay down the law.

While your parenting is modern and hip, it's not over the top.

You know that there's nothing cool about a parent who acts like a teenager... or a drill sergeant!

Thanks to Cool Moms Rule for the link.

Trevor, the Mentos Intern - Put Him to Work for You!

mentos

Here's some fun to do tomorrow at work - use your intern! Just go to http://www.mentosintern.com/ where you'll find Trevor, ready to do work for you! He also has a blog at http://www.trevortheintern.blogspot.com/. I plan to try to have him do something for me, but I can't say what - it will be a surprise! By the way girls and boys, his profile says his favorite Mentos is strawberry!
Other duties you could assign to him:
  1. Perform a one-act play of your choice
  2. Phone you (or your boss) to shower you with compliments
  3. Create a playlist for an upcoming party
  4. Call in sick for you
Oh, and they have a lot of other fun stuff at the http://www.mentos.com/ website like printable instructions for building your own Mentos geyser! Just right for the end of summer!

Top 5 Reasons to Work at Home

Check out Top 5 reasons to Work at Home to find out why this is the changing workplace of today! I have been working at home in various capacities since dd1 was born in 1999 - wow that seems like a long time ago now.

I did party sales for Southern Living at Home for several years and really made more money selling the items on Ebay - which they don't really cotton to - so we ended that business relationship.

I sold lots of lots of my excess home clutter over several years and sold off some books and other garage sale items on ebay.

I worked as a human resources subcontractor putting together reports and documents and procedures for businesses.

I have worked for a year doing part-time telephone sales and service for West Corporation as an independent contractor. I take calls for Home Shopping Network and other projects.

Now, I have added blogging with ad sales and paid posts as my latest work from home venture.

I also do substitute teaching during the school year. What kinds of things are you all doing to make extra money? Let me know.

Help Conserve Our Natural Resources - Be Green!

I just happened to run across this website, courtesy of blogger and thought it was a really cool idea. Basically, you help raise people's awareness of their use of paper products by stickering paper towel dispensers, copiers, etc. with their little stickers that say "these come from trees". I like it! I know my daughter will like it...even at 8 years old, she is very enviro-conscious which is inspiring! So check it out These Come from Trees!

Fun Blogs

Dark UFO I read this daily. Sometimes 100 times per day. Yes I am addicted to LOST. My daughter actually wrote in her cute Mother's Day card to me written at school "if my Mom were a TV show, she'd be LOST, cause it is her favorite show. She also said I'd be a Ford Explorer, but that is another story.

Workplace Like HOME I do work from home work part time and this is where we discuss how we are sometimes treated like dogs for not being full-time employees, yet we do earn some funds.

Hurricane City I am also a weather addict. When hurricane season starts I am here almost every day and then almost every hour when storms are approaching Florida. The message board is very good - you will get more information here earlier and faster than the national weather service.

Which brings me to:

Butterfly's Garden My oldest daughter's blog - kid stuff.

Florida Sun Dog My husband's fun Florida blog

Thats all for now! Enjoy
